Dutch-American Heritage Day 2008_41

To honor Dutch-American Heritage Day on November 16th, the Dutch Consulate organized an opportunity for our students to learn about the historical impact the Dutch settlers had on New York City (formerly known as New Amsterdam).

The NY Historical Society visited 5th grade classrooms before an assembly where they met Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and her husband Pieter van Vollenhoven.  5th graders planted tulip bulbs in their own planters as well as Corlears Hook Park down the street.
